Jellemzők

Opened in 1972, the property was purpose-built as a nursing home by Sisk and comprises an imposing 4 storey over lower ground floor building, designed in six interconnected zones. The building is of cast concrete framed construction, with infill sections between the beams and columns finished in a combination of render dash and smooth render. The property incorporates six separate pitched roofs with hipped ends at the front and rear and several water storage tank rooms between the various roofs. All pitched roofs are enclosed with raised parapet walls. The auditorium and chapel feature shallow-pitched, standing seam copper roofs with surrounding parapet valleys, draining via external PVC hopper heads and downpipes. Windows and doors comprise a mix of single-glazed timber casement and sash windows, single-glazed timber sheeted doors, double-glazed aluminium doors, and replacement double-glazed aluminium tilt-and-turn windows on the upper floors, fitted within the original timber frames.

Internally, each level contains cast concrete floor slabs. The accommodation is divided using a combination of cast concrete and block walls, supplemented by lightweight stud partitions in selected areas. Wall finishes include plasterboard lining, painted plaster, wallpaper in most rooms, and ceramic tiling in bathrooms and kitchens. Floor finishes include fitted carpets, ceramic tiles, vinyl tiles (predominantly at basement level), and marmoleum-type coverings in most other areas. The building contains several cast concrete staircases throughout and is served by four Otis lifts, each with a 26-person capacity. Ceilings are generally finished with fibre inlay tiles on suspended grids.

To the front of the property off Sybil Hill Road there is surface parking for approx. 55 cars. A wrap-around roadway traverses the landscaped gardens providing access to the rear of the property where some limited parking is also available, including 4 no. garages located at lower ground level.
